A Competent Person must always be present on the forecourt.

Fuel deliveries are the highest risk activities that occur at petrol filling stations. Thousands of litres of fuel are carried onto the site during the process, and ensuring its safe delivery carries a large responsibility. The role of the Competent Person is therefore extremely important. Fuel deliveries cannot legally take place without a Competent Person being on the site: no Competent Person, no delivery!

Whether you are the owner of the site or entrusted by your employer to oversee the forecourt, it is crucial that you carry out your duties thoroughly and responsibly. On behalf of the site operator, the Competent Person must oversee and put into place many responsibilities, such as ensuring that there is no source of ignition, monitor vehicle movements and provide necessary information to drivers.

We developed the Competent Person Online Training Course to help workers that are in charge of ensuring the correct handling of fuel on the forecourt to understand their responsibilities towards safety. It is a fully online interactive course and assessment, accessible on any device, 24/7, with no time limits through our modern LMS. A certificate can be downloaded upon successful completion of the online course.

The Competent Person Online Training is a 2-hour course with a series of modules which can be completed over a period of time. You can purchase the course here.
