How are we still getting the basic so wrong?!
Perhaps it's time to shake things up. It’s time for some more 'disruptive' compliance training. For too long health & safety and compliance training has been a tick-box exercise for many. We either read a manual, then it gathers dust on a shelf. Or perhaps we have some 'click next' online training which we must endure. But if organisations are really serious about influencing their employees' mind-set and change behaviour (and protecting their staff, customers and reputation) then it's surely time to do things a little differently.
Training should be about active learning, engaging the employee and yes, maybe, it should be disruptive. By surprising, engaging and challenging our teams we can change their mind-set, give them the tools and skills to think for themselves and do the right thing. That, I believe, is how we truly make safer and stronger and more competitive organisations.
